Is it okay to lie, steal or Cheat

In the book trash there are many examples of cheating, lying and stealing, but some are good and some are bad.

Some examples of the good lies, cheat or steal is when Raphael was taken by the police and interrogated, but instead of telling the truth about him finding the bag he makes up a story. This is good because the police can't be trusted. Some more examples is when Sister Olivia took Gardo to see his grandfather but is actually Gabriel  Olondriz.

Some examples of bad lies, cheating and stealing is when Senator Zapanta said that it was Gabriel who took the money instead of him. Another example is when Jose Angelico tried to steal back 6 million $$ dollars for revenge , one Last example is when the police offers Gardo 20 million pesos for the bible.

In conclusion it is ok to lie, steal or cheat when you are in danger and need to survive, but it could also be bad if you use for bad things.

Why are People poor?

People are poor because of the cooperation's that control the world don't care about the people. These cooperation's only care's about money and not the people. The government allows the companies in but they were tricked, instead of giving money to the country the company actually gets money. These companies take all the resources and those who cant afford were force to leave. If the government cant pay the debt they are forced into war. We might call them terrorist's but they are just desperate human beings. So the real terrorist's are actually those huge companies and cooperation's.

Fundraising

Our days of fundraising were pretty good. We were the first ones to start and it went quite success full but during lunch we were completely overrun by the other stalls because were just selling small snacks. Sometime during our shifts we might argue but not all the time but it was not so bad. I have some improvements for next time such as a different area for selling and more variety of food. It was ok but some people were just commenting instead of buying, but we had also a problem with thieves some people just attack when we are busy and take what they wanted but luckily we caught them. I hope next time we would have more money.

What gave Raphael the Strength to?

I believe that what gave Raphael the strength to lie to the police is the will his has to solve the mystery of Jose Angelico and the Jose's spirit also gave him courage to lie to the police even with the constant abuse of the police he was still strong. Raphael knows that he has most of the information compared to what the police know and he rather die then tell the trash police.

Creating Suspense

Creating Suspense
In a story there are many ways of creating suspense. One way of suspense is when characters are working against the dead line. One example of this is when Gardo and Olivia went to prison to talk to Gabriel Olondriz but they only had limited time. This is an example of suspense because we the readers get to learn more about both Gabriel and Jose’s life and it also advances the mystery.  Another example is when Raphael, Gardo and Rat went to the mission school to use the computer to learn more about Jose Angelico. This is an example because we don’t know what they just red and it makes us more curious about what happened to Jose.

Another way of creating suspense is with Conflict. One example of conflict is when there was the sound of gun shots and people screaming. This creates conflict because we don’t know who shot the gun and who was shot but whoever fired it. Another example is when Raphael was captured by the police and was taken to the police station to be interrogated. This is an example of suspense because we don’t know if Raphael will give up to the police.

Another way is adding an element of surprise one example is when Raphael was taken away by the police. This is an example because we don’t know why was Raphael taken away and how did the police find him so fast. Another example is when the police went to Behala to look for the bag but came out empty handed. This creates suspense because we want to know why the police chose this place out of other places.
The final way of creating suspense is Using sensory details to create an air of mystery. An example is the whistle blowing and gun shots. An example because where did the gun shot comes from and who was firing them. The last example is the smell of Rats house. An example because it makes you confused how he survives in such horrible conditions.

In conclusion, suspense is really important in a story because it makes us want to know more and makes it way more exiting.

Markustrash2013

Summery Part 1
Trash is a book written by Andy Mulligan and it’s a story about 3 boys named Raphael, Gardo and Rat. The story is set in a dump-site and the story begins when Raphael finds a bag while he was working at the dump-site. In the bag is a key, an ID card that belongs to a person named Jose Angelico and a wallet. That same night the police came and asked everyone if they have found a bag, Raphael’s auntie answers saying that he has found something but he lied to the police and said that he only found a shoe. Gardo is his best friend and has taken care of him because he was older than him, he also has another friend named Rat who use to live in a train station. Rat tells them that the key was for a locker in the train station that he used to live in and they decided that they would go there. Rat tells them that the station is filled with station boys but they went through with no problem because rat knows some of them and they gave them some money. When they got to the locker they opened it and found a letter with a code and it belonged to a man named Gabriel Olondriz who was in prison.

Questions:
Why was the bag thrown away?
Who is Gabriel Olondriz?
What did he do that made him end up in prison?
Why is the bag so important to the police?

One of the themes in the book was Police corruption and violence. An example of this is when Raphael says “When the police get mean, you don’t want to be around”. This means that the police be violent if they get angry. Another example is when Raphael says “But everyone knows not to trust so far. What if they just took and drove off laughing?” By this he means that nobody can trust the police because you give them something and you get nothing back.

The Second theme of the book is the dangers of Poverty. An example of is when Raphael said “We jumped early because you don’t ever want to be seen getting off the train. If guards or even porters see you, you can get a real trashing”. By this he means no matter who sees you would get beaten up. Another example is when Raphael says “You’re working under trash as its raining down”. This means no matter what is happening it is better to get there first.
